  • Defending champions Manchester City are knocked out by Real Madrid following a penalty shootout in the second leg of their UEFA Champions League quarterfinal.
  • The match finished 1-1 on the night, and 4-4 on aggregate, following a 3-3 draw at the Bernabeu.
  • Vinicius Junior set up the Madrid goal for Rodrygo, who tapped in at the second time of asking after a snap save from Ederson.
  • Kevin De Bruyne deservedly levelled for City in the second half of a one-sided game.
  • City are two points clear at the top of the Premier League while Real are eight points clear in La Liga.
  • Bayern Munich beat Arsenal 1-0 in the night’s other tie to progress 3-2 on aggregate. Bayern will now face Madrid in the semifinal.
